Aviv Geffen is the debut, English-language studio album by Israeli post-punk singer-songwriter Aviv Geffen, released on October 19, 2009 in the UK. It was produced by Geffen himself, with producers David Andrew Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Pet Shop Boys) and Ken Nelson (Coldplay).
The band also features contributions from members of Aviv Geffen's side project Blackfield: Seffy Efrati on bass, Tomer Z on drums and Eran Mitelman on keyboards, all performing on the same 3 tracks.
"It's Cloudy Now" is a Blackfield cover from their debut album Blackfield. The song was originally written and recorded by Geffen in Hebrew.

Sadly enough, Aviv Geffen is rather unknown outside Israel, though that changed a bit courtesy of the Blackfield albums.
For his first opus sung in English, Aviv has created nothing less than a masterpiece. Every song is memorable, profound and heart-wrenching, perfectly produced courtesy of luminaries like Trevor Horn, for one. But the true hero of the record is indeed Aviv himself, who wrote every word and music, and did the magnificient string arrangements, among others.
Let's really hope that this disc gets him out wide in the open, as he deserves to be!
